A 48-year-old lady was killed after the motorized scooter she was riding collided with an SUV in Holmesburg.
Officials tell FOX 29 that the woman was riding a “motorized skateboard with handles” at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The tragedy occurred as she neared the busy junction of Frankford Avenue and Academy Road.
Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small stated that she collided with a Kia Sorento. The Kia was making a left-hand turn from the southbound lane when it crashed with the woman.
She died at the site.
Inspector Small went on to explain that a witness at the scene noticed five or six other persons riding scooters and dirt bikes beside her, but they fled the scene of the accident.
The 20-year-old Kia driver remained on the site and is helping with the police inquiry.
