A woman who was 35 years old and was discovered dead in Crawford County last week was from Macon, according to an announcement made by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.
It was a county roads worker who discovered the body of the woman, who was later determined to be Callie Brooke Goolsby. The body was found near Smith Chapel Road in Crawford County. On Friday, the Crawford County Coroner’s Office determined that her death was the result of a homicide.
An autopsy was performed on the remains of Goolsby, which were transported to the crime lab of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. According to the statements made in the release, Crawford County Sheriff Lewis S. Walker asked the GBI to take charge of the investigation.
As of Monday, the inquiry was still being carried out.
