The victim of a shooting that occurred early on Saturday morning in west Phoenix was a man who was 33 years old.
Officers responded to complaints of shooting in a neighborhood close to the intersection of 51st Avenue and Thomas Road at approximately 4:20 in the morning, according to Sgt. Brian Bower of the Phoenix Police Department.
A man who had been shot was discovered by law enforcement officers lying outside of a property. Bower stated that they quickly removed him from the residence and began administering measures that were intended to save his life.
When firefighters from Phoenix arrived, they determined that the man had passed away at the scene.
It was determined that his name was Humberto Ortiz.
It was discovered by investigators that Ortiz had been shot by an individual who remained unidentified and fled before the police arrived.
It was strongly recommended that anyone who had any information regarding the identity of the shooter contact Silent Witness at either 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO.
