UPDATE: Arrest Has Been Made In the Motorcycle Rider Shot In Road Rage Incident

A Walker County man who is accused of shooting a motorcyclist during a road rage incident on Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe Sunday afternoon has been arrested.

Joshua Aaron Bassham was booked into the Catoosa County Jail, charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Fort Oglethorpe Police Department says concerned citizens and witnesses helped contribute to the quick arrest.

Bassham was accused of shooting a motorcyclist on Battlefield Parkway near Dietz Road during a road rage incident. The victim got off his motorcycle and confronted Bassham.  During the confrontation, Bassham is accused of shooting the twenty-two-year-old motorcycle driver.  Bassham fled the scene, but witnesses were able to provide law enforcement tips that led to his identification and arrest.

Fort Oglethorpe Police say they’re looking for a pickup truck driver who shot a motorcycle rider in the abdomen in an apparent road rage incident, Sunday afternoon.
The rider said the motorist “cut him off” on Battlefield Parkway and he chased him down to approach the vehicle.  During a verbal altercation, the driver shot the rider and left the scene.
An anonymous tip led Police to the suspect’s vehicle… but the search for 31-year-old Joshua Aaron Bassham continues.  He’s considered armed and dangerous.
The 22 year old cycle rider is expected to recover.
