Accident Leads to Arrest of Lyerly Resident

Summerville Police were called to the scene of an accident on Highway 114 on Monday evening after a 2000 Ford Focus sideswiped a 2021 Kia.

When police arrived on the scene the driver of the Kia told officers that the Ford Focus, driven by fifty-two-year-old Ricky Johnson of Lyerly, was following too closely and then crossed the yellow line.  After crossing the yellow line, Johnson’s vehicle came back into the lane and sideswiped the Kia, causing damage to the front right bumper.

Johnson admitted to being at fault.  While speaking with Johnson, officer suspected that he had been using drugs.

Johnson was charged with DUI for drugs, expired registration, failure to maintain lane, following too closely and no license on person.
