Standoff With Law Enforcement Ends Peacefully

On September 13, 2021 in the late afternoon hours, Patrol Officers with the Uniformed Patrol Division was dispatched to a Portland Road address in reference to a subject with a firearm. The Aragon Police Department responded as mutual aid assistance.

Upon the arrival of the Patrol Officers, they made contact with a twenty-year-old male subject with a pump shotgun. The male subject then placed the shotgun to his chin and began requesting for officers to shoot him.

After an approximate two-hour standoff with law enforcement, the male subject surrendered the firearm to law enforcement. The male subject was then transported by Redmond EMS to receive the help that he needed.

Upon the conclusion of the investigation, it was determined that the male subject had called Polk County E-911 on himself.

We are thankful for the peaceful resolve to this situation.
