Teen Curfew In Rome To Be Changed Due To Massive Brawl Two Weeks Ago

Rome City Commissioners recommended a change in the curfew for teens on Monday.  The motion to take the curfew to 10 pm from 11 pm was done following a massive brawl near downtown two weeks ago.

The curfew applies to all people under the age of 17 who are not accompanied by a responsible adult.

Assistant Police Chief Debbie Burnett said charges were filed against nine juveniles and two adults. They ranged in age from 14 to 17.

A second reading and adoption of the curfew change is slated for the Commission’s Sept. 13 meeting.
