Fred made landfall overnight and will continue to push his way through Alabama and into Northwest Georgia throughout the day to today and into the evening. What we can expect here in Northwest Georgia is rain – and a lot of it.
How much rain will we see? That is still up in the air, but some forecasts are showing up to six inches of rain in a thirty-six hour period.
If you live in a low-lying area or flood zone, especially close to rivers, creeks and streams, you should pay close attention to the weather today and tonight.
Along with the heavy rain, there is the possibility for wind gusts that could bring down trees and power lines.
There is also the slight chance for pop-up tornadoes from the storm system.
