A Walker County man was sentenced to 30 years for drug trafficking in the Chickamauga Battlefield.
The National Park Service made the arrest in December, 2020. The ranger found evidence of drug trafficking inside the vehicle… including almost six ounces of meth, drug paraphernalia, digital scales, baggies, a magnetic hidden compartment, and a handgun.
37-year-old Jeffery Whitmire, a Walker County resident, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
As part of his plea deal, Whitmire was sentenced to 30 years in prison. He will be required to serve 10 years behind bars, at which point he may serve the remaining 20 years on probation.
Whitmire will also be required to pay 370-thousand dollars in fines and restitution.
