New GA Laws Beginning July 1

So much for the “defund the police” idea… not here.  A new Georgia law that takes effect today, says that cities and counties cannot cut spending on their police departments by more than 5 percent a year.
Another new laws requires motorists to change lanes, if possible, to pass a bicycle rider.
A law requires public schools to allow home-schooled students to participate in athletics and other activities as long as they take at least one online course from a local school.
And a new Georgia law addresses porch piracy… it’s now a felony to steal packages from 3 or more different addresses or to possess 10 or more pieces of stolen mail.
