Pulling up to a roadblock with Marijuana is never a good idea, as one Chattooga County woman discovered this past weekend.
According to reports from the Chattooga County Sheriffs office, while performing a license and safety checkpoint on Penn Bridge Road, a Ford Fusion approached. The driver of the Ford, identified as Destiny Johnson was asked to produce her license. While Johnson was getting her license from her wallet, Deputies noticed a clear bag containing a green, leafy substance appearing to be marijuana in the wallet. Deputies then asked Johnson to hand over the entire wallet, and she complied.
All occupants of the vehicle were then asked to exit the vehicle and another clear baggie of suspected marijuana “roaches” were found. Running all the occupants names through Chattooga County E-911 returned that Destiny Johnson had active warrants in both Chattooga and Walker County and currently did not have a valid drivers license due to a failure to appear in April, 2020. The license had been suspended since November, 2020.
At this point Deputies placed Johnson under arrest, where she was transported to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident. The other occupants of the vehicle were released.
