Local Man Arrested for Possession of Drugs and Other Charges

Summerville Police Officers arrested a local man for possession of Methamphetamine, and Ecstasy among other charges on Tuesday.

While running radar near Chattooga High School on Highway 114, Officers observed a vehicle that was speeding in the school zone. The flashers were on, indicating that the speed limit was 35 MPH but the vehicle was clocked running at 56 MPH.

The driver, Marcus Donnell Tutt, of Summerville was found to have an active warrant in Cedartown for a Failure to Appear. When the passenger, Heather Smith moved to take control of the vehicle, Officers discovered suspected drugs near the passenger seat. Suspected Methamphetamine and a pill with a cartoon Popeye printed on it, were discovered in the vehicle. Officers suspected the pill was MDMA, also known as ecstasy. A firearm was taken into possession as well, as Smith was a convicted felon and could not drive with it in her vicinity.

After several stories, Tutt admitted that he was responsible for the drugs. Marcus Tutt was transported to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident.
