For those eager to get the vegetable garden going for spring, you may want to pay attention to any warm weather plants you have already planted. There is a good chance much of the area could see frost by Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia says that we should see overnight lows down to the mid-30’s by Thursday. Higher elevations could see temperature around the freezing mark.
Bed sheets, drop cloths, blankets and plastic sheets make suitable covers for vulnerable plants. Use stakes to keep material, especially plastic, from touching foliage. Remove the coverings when temperatures rise.
Vegetable plants that will need protection include: peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, beans, cucumber, sweet corn, squash and melons.
