DUI Arrest After Car Found In Ditch With Sleeping Occupant Inside

A Summerville Man was arrested for a DUI last week when he was found asleep inside his car, which was found resting in a ditch on Highland Ave.

On March 10th, Summerville City Police Officers were dispatched to Highland Ave in regards to a seemingly unconscious driver with his car in the ditch. Arriving at the scene, the officers made several attempts to wake the driver and have him unlock the doors. After being unable to do so, officers broke out the passenger side window, at which time the driver began to come back around.

The driver was indentified as Justice White, who told officers that he was fine, just sleepy. Due to a strong odor of alcohol, officers asked White to a Field Sobriety Test, during which White showed many signs of impairment. White was placed under arrest for DUI and taken to the hospital to be medically cleared due to the state of his car. After being cleared, Justice White was transported to the Chattooga County Jail to be booked.
