Chase Started In Georgia Ends In Alabama

An attempted traffic stop turned into a car chase which ended in Dekalb, Alabama with the suspects arrest.

Last week, while on patrol, Chattooga County Deputies spotted a black Lexus SUV run the stop sign at the intersection of Hwy 48 and Hwy 337 in Menlo. The Deputies followed the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop.

The driver failed to stop and continued up Hwy 48 toward Cloudland. Despite the wet road conditions and fog the vehicle sped up the mountain maintaining speeds of around 50-60 mile per hour. Even after turning on the SUVs hazard lights and appearing to attempt to stop the driver continued right onto Hwy 48 eventually crossing over into Alabama, on Hwy 117.

Dekalb County Deputies joined in the chase and after several attempts a PIT maneuver was successful until the driver managed to reverse the car and continue down the Hwy. Gaining in speeds of over 100 miles per hour, several more Alabama agencies joined in the chase.

The suspect was eventually stopped and apprehended by Law Enforcement. In addition to charges in Alabama, the driver, Quandria Mitchell, will be charged with traffic offenses along with Felony Fleeing and Attempting to Elude warrants since he went into the State of Alabama.
