Sen. Mullis Email Account Has Been Hacked

On Tuesday, State Senator Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga) issued a statement about emails that were sent from his personal email account over the past week.

Local Radio Station, WZQZ News received one of the emails last week and contacted Senator Mullis to let him know that his account had been compromised.  The emails that were sent out by would-be scammers were asking if the recipients had an Amazon or E-bay account.

Senator Mullis issued a statement saying:

As you may have noticed, my email was recently compromised and messages were sent from my account inquiring about an Amazon or Ebay account and further requesting money. These did not come from me. I wanted to inform you all of this sooner, but my address book was wiped and has just been recovered. I have been working with Comcast and, hopefully, the issue has been resolved. The hacker has also set up a fake Gmail with my name. This is also not me!
Thank you to everyone who contacted me and my office to inform us of the emails.
If any of you receive any other suspicious emails from “me”, please contact my Capitol office at 404-656-0057.
Thank you and I apologize for any inconvenience.
Jeff Mullis
