President Donald Trump will have a “victory rally” in Dalton on Monday, Jan. 4, the night before a runoff election that will decide two U.S. Senate seats in Georgia, according to the Republican National Committee.
Trump will speak at the event for Republican U.S. Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Dalton Regional Airport. Other speakers at the event are Loeffler, Perdue, Lauren “Bubba” McDowell (a runoff candidate for the state’s Public Service Commission) and other Republicans.
Loeffler and Perdue are locked in fierce runoff battles with Democrats the Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, respectively. Many eyes are on the Peach State as these two races could decide the balance of power in the U.S. Senate. Republicans currently hold a 50-48 majority, but if both Georgia Democrats win that would even the count at 50 senators for each party, giving Democrat Kamala Harris, the vice president-elect, the deciding vote.
