It’s that time of year again, Holiday and Tax time. Property taxes were due beginning yesterday, December 1st.
Tax Commissioner Hampton said, “2020 property taxes were due Tuesday, December 1st. Due to the current circumstances regarding COVID, I would like to urge people to pay by mail or drop box to avoid the crowds. We do accept post marks, and bills can be paid online at www.chattooga tax.com.”
Hampton added, “There will not be a penalty if we receive a payment by mail that is postmarked this week. We want to remain open to serve our citizens, so I am asking our citizens to please not visit the office if they have symptoms of COVID-19 or are currently in quarantine due to a positive test result or exposure. Citizens in quarantine are welcome to call the office to find out what to do in that case. That number is 706-857-0703. “
