Counterfeit Money Passed at Local Library

Tis’ the season for counterfeit money. On November 17th, 2020 a worker at the Chattooga County Library, Shelly Baker, reported that at some point someone had passed a $5 bill at the library. Further inspection of the bill showed it to be counterfeit. Banks say credit card fraud, scams, and counterfeit bills annually increase during the holiday season. Although this year, you are more likely to see an increase in credit card fraud as CoVid-19 will keep most shoppers at home, it pays to stay alert when shopping this season whether it is online or in the store.

This incident remains under investigation.
