A manhunt for Rockmart murder suspect, Jimmy Brian Blackmon, is over. Polk County authorities confirmed Monday that Blackmon was taken into custody by the US Marshals in Carrollton.
Reports said that Blackmon was found after he turned his personal cell phone back on and law enforcement got a ping from the device inside a home in Carrollton.
The manhunt has been going for over a week.
On October 18, 2020, The Polk County Police Department’s Uniformed Patrol Division was dispatched to 118 Rice Road in reference to a shooting. Upon the arrival of Patrol Officers, a female, identified as Ginger Leanne Green Blackmon, 36, of 118 Rice Road. was located on scene deceased.
Lifesaving measures were attempted by law enforcement, as well as medical personnel. Detectives with the Polk County Police Department were requested, as well as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. This is still an active investigation.
Authorities currently have active warrants on Jimmy Blackmon (white male). Blackmon was last seen driving a 2015 Black GMC Sierra (Georgia Tag #RVN1626). This male is considered armed & dangerous. Any sightings of this subject, call 911.
