Homeless Man Arrested for Theft

Summerville Police say that a homeless man, who had been living in a shed beside a church, was arrested and charged with theft by taking after being accused of stealing a tool box.

Police received a complaint from a Bellah Avenue, Summerville man who said that a woman had contacted him and said that fifty-four-year-old Terry Albert Davis had contacted her husband on Facebook and tried to sell him the tool box.  The owner of the tool box followed Davis and found the tool box along with several items hid in the woods.

Police say when they questioned Davis at the outbuilding near First Presbyterian Church in Summerville, he admitted to taking the tool box without permission.

Davis was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on charges of theft by taking.
