Authorities continue to search for an accused murderer that they say shot and killed his wife in their Rockmart home
Jimmy Brian Blackmon has been on the run since he allegedly shot his wife earlier this week. The effort to find Blackmon was originally focused near his home in Polk County, but officials believe that Blackmon made his way into Floyd County later in the week. Around Thursday, officials say that they believe Blackmon returned to his home in Polk County. Police set up a perimeter around his house, but Blackmon was never found.
Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd said efforts to find Blackmon were at a standstill going into the weekend on Friday, with Georgia State Patrol using their helicopter equipped with forward-looking infra-red cameras to search the woods off of Cartersville Highway on Thursday night.
Blackmon is considered to be armed and dangerous, and anyone with any information about his whereabouts is urged to contact law enforcement.
