Rome Commissioners Vote To Impose Face Masks

Rome City Commissioners voted 8 to 1 Monday to impose a new mask mandate.  The order makes it a requirement for face coverings to be worn in places within the city limits where people cannot socially distance.

Commissioners added a provision where businesses can opt out of the order for their store by posting a sign that reads, “This location does not consent to the enforcement of any local face covering requirement upon this property.”

The lone “no” vote came from Commissioner Wendy Davis.

The order states that anyone being cited not wearing a mask will receive a warning the first time, a $25 for the second offense and any subsequent offenses up to a $50 fine.
