Walker County property tax for Schools will be going up this year… but it’s not a budget-buster amount.
At 17.404 mills, the increase on a home valued at 100-thousand dollars… is just over a dollar. In fact, it’s the same millage rate as last year… but Walker County’s property values have gone up, slightly raising the amount schools will receive.
Considering the State of Georgia has cut school funding by 10-percent this year… the modest local increase is probably a relief to many.
The budget and tax rate will be approved by the School Board at a meeting on August 17th. Three public hearings will be held before then.
