A small bear cub was injured after being hit by a vehicle on Alabama Highway 35 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Broomtown Fire Department, National Park Service officials, Floyd EMS Medics and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene.
The bear reportedly suffered a broken lower jaw.
A motorist placed the bear in the back of a truck and carried it to the old Rip’s One Stop location at Blanche Crossroads where Department of Game and Fish officials transported it to a medical facility in Tennessee. No one in the vehicle that accidentally struck the cub was hurt.
The cub is expected to survive.
