Homes Severely Damaged, Roads Closed in Chattooga County

Close to 40 homes severely damaged or destroyed up to 100 with significant damage.  Every County Road effected.  Four are still closed : Springhill Road, Creekside, Popular Springs , Halls Valley Road.

We are looking at a possible tornado stretching from Oak Hill, Berryton, Dry Valley, Pennville, Mountain View and Halls Valley.   Lots of trees down.
Also a flood event.  Some areas of the county are reporting up to 8 inches.  Flooding at Trion is severe.  Chattooga River is expected to crest this afternoon with up to 2 feet of additional rise.  Mount Vernon Mills and Town of Trion City facilities have been effected significantly.  Up to 30 homes damaged.
We are seeing up to 6500 residents without power.  That can mean almost 80% of County is without power.  All of downtown Summerville is without power.  Georgia Power is saying it could be up to 48 hours to get most residences back in line.  Many will extend past that.  Significant resources are in the County and additional are being brought in now .
Oak View Nursing Home is without power but operating under long term power generators.  EMA has been in contact and will assist with any needs.
