Highway 27 at the bridge has Re OPENED.
On Monday afternoon, the Georgia Department of Transportation closed the Chattooga River Bridge on Highway 27 near The Summerville News. The river reached 21.48 feet – well above what is considered “major flood stage” yesterday afternoon. Overnight, the water began to recede. As of this morning at 6 AM, the river was down to 16.8 feet. That’s just below “moderate flood stage.” Chattooga EMA 911 said that the bridge is REOPENED for traffic this morning.
