Rome Resident Dies of COVID-19

The Floyd County coroner has confirmed that a Rome resident died Wednesday night due to respiratory failure after testing positive for COVID-19.

Floyd county coronor Gene Proctor said that 65 year old Elizabeth Wells was admitted to the hospital on March 7 and tested positive for the virus on March 12, battling extreme respiratory complications before passing away Wednesday night at about 6 p.m. in Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome.
