If you want to qualify to run for local office in Chattooga County – this is the week you must do so. Qualifying will begin this morning and run through Friday at noon. All candidates from either party, or those wanting to run as independents must declare the candidacy this week and pay the qualifying fee to be on the Primary Ballot in May.
All of the county’s constitutional officers except state court judge will be up for grabs and include sole commissioner, tax commissioner, sheriff, coroner, magistrate judge, probate judge and clerk of courts.
Local political parties will qualify those candidates wishing to run on a partisan ballot.
There are also two school board seats that candidates can qualify for in the upcoming election.
All candidates must qualify before noon on Friday.
