It appears Cherokee County, Alabama law enforcement was involved in a chase that started Thursday morning in Floyd County, Georgia.
The pursuit began following an attempted traffic stop, and Georgia law enforcement chased the suspect into Alabama – where he entered Cherokee County on Highway 9 – turned onto Highway 35 and traveled through Gaylesville at a high rate of speed going toward Ft Payne.
According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the suspect managed to avoid the spike strips placed at the bridge near the Little River Canyon Center, before continuing into Ft Payne – turning down Beason Gap – where he finally lost control and wrecked.
Three individuals were taken into custody at the scene – one adult and two juveniles.
The adult was identified as 34 year old Willie Tyrone Davis, with a Florida address, charged with Fleeing/Attempting to Elude, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm.
Additional charges are pending both in Cherokee County, Alabama and in Georgia.
