Johnson Arrested for Sexual Abuse of Child

A Centre, Alabama man was arrested on Friday on Grand Jury Indictments for the Sexual Abuse of a Child Less Than 12 (two counts) and Sodomy 1st Degree (two counts).

65 year old Curtis Lee Johnson was booked in at the Cherokee County Detention Centre at at 12:44 p.m. and released at 3:31 p.m. that same afternoon after posting a $750,000 bond.

Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship said the offense was reported by the victim’s mother on Tuesday (July, 23rd, 2019) when she provided a statement related to the offense to Centre Police Investigators. According to Chief Blankenship, Chief Investigator Randy Mayorga along with Officer Emily Troxtel arrested Johnson back in July of 2019 at his residence without incident.

After a follow up with the District Attorney’s Office and the Children’s Advocacy Center, Chief Investigator Randy Mayorga was able to obtain a Warrant for  Johnson. Following further investigation into the case by Mayorga, a Cherokee County Grand Jury handed down the Indictments on all charges.
