Scottsboro Fire Victims Identified

The victims of the deadly dock fire taking place at Jackson County Park in Scottsboro during the early morning hours of Monday – have now been named.

The blaze swept across a line of watercraft destroying a total of 35 boats, claiming a total of eight lives and sending seven others to the hospital.

Family members have now confirmed that six of the victims included a mother and her five children.

Annette Miles, 40 – and children, Zane Long, age 19; Bryli Long, 16; Traydon Miles, 10; Kesston Miles, 9; and Dezli Miles, 7.  The father, Joe Miles was rescued from the water, suffering burns.  Wormsley is Joe Miles’ sister-in-law.

Another victim has been identified by family members – according to her stepmother, and a step-sister, Amanda Foster Garrard, age 38 from Oak Grove, Mississippi also perished in the fire. She was in town reportedly visiting her boyfriend, who managed to survive; she leaves behind four children.

On Wednesday, Jackson County Coroner John Jordan identified that eighth victim as Yancy Farrell Roper, age 54.
