A forty-year-old Trion man has been sentenced to prison in connection with a wreck in March of 2018 when he slammed into a patrol vehicle while running from police. Darren Allan Vincent fled from police in Floyd County after he thought he was meeting a fourteen-year-old girl for sex, but was met instead by law enforcement.
During the ensuing chase, Vincent reached speeds of over 130 miles-per-hour while traveling on Highway 53. A Floyd County Officer, was sitting near the Floyd and Gordon County line, blocking traffic when Vincent slammed into the officer’s patrol car.
Vincent was sentenced on Monday of this week to attempting to commit aggravated child molestation as well as eight counts of aggravated assault on a police officer and was sentenced to twenty-five years to serve fifteen in prison.
