Rome Police released the name of a suspect on Sunday that they believe is responsible for the armed robbery that took place on Saturday night at the Hi-Tech Fuel Station on South Broad Street around 9:15 PM.
Using security camera footage, police have identified the suspect as forty-five-year-old James Edward Haynes. Police believe that he entered the gas station wearing black gloves, all-black cothing and a black ski mask. Police say that Haynes had a Glock Model 21 in his possession and shot the store clerk once in the back. The store clerk ran to the back of the store and hid after being shot. Police believe at that point the suspect took all of the money from the cash register and fled the scene on foot.
When police arrived on the scene on Saturday night, the sixty-three-year-old store clerk was found with the gunshot wound to his back.
