Information on Cold Case in Walker County Sought by Sheriff Wilson

An eleven-year-old cold murder case in Walker County is getting some new attention.  Walker County Sheriff’s Department investigators say they have continued to work the case that happened on December 19, 2008 in Flintstone.

Forty-five-year-old Michael Eugene Mullens was found shot in the head at his machine shop.  Officials believe that he was shot around 6 AM that morning.

Investigators say that they need more information in order to move forward in the case.  They are asking anyone who might have been driving along Georgia 193 that day, or anyone that lives in the area to contact the Walker County Sheriff’s Department.

At the time of the murder, Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said that his investigators believe that someone was lying in wait for Mullens as he arrived to work that morning.   Mullens was found slumped over in his pickup truck and appeared to be unplugging his cell phone from the charger at the time he was shot.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Walker County Sheriff’s Department.
