Chattooga Bar Association Honors the Late Carlton Vines

The Chattooga Bar Association held a ceremony on Monday afternoon in the main courtroom of the Chattooga County Courthouse to honor the late Carlton Vines.  Mr. Vines passed away November 8th, and according to his wishes did not have a funeral.

Vines had served as State Court Judge for many years and was an attorney and a former school teacher at Trion City Schools.  Vines’ widow, Amber Vines, was in attendance at the ceremony on Monday where she was presented with a plaque to honor the memory of Mr. Vines.

Judge Kristina Cook Graham opened the short ceremony recalling her years of friendship with Carlton Vines and his time as an attorney and state court judge.  Judge Graham said, “Carlton Vines went to law school because he wanted to help people…..I think the only thing he ever wanted to do was help people.”

Current State Court Judge Jon Dennis also addressed the attorneys and judges gathered in the courtroom.  Summerville attorney Bobby Lee Cook also spoke to the group about his many years of friendship with Mr. Vines.  Cook called Vines ” a very unique individual and a friend.”
