A sixty-four-year-old Summerville man was arrested on forgery charges. Law enforcement officials say that Earl Lamar Bramlett of a Briarwood Circle address forged $48,650 worth of “bad checks” earlier this month.
Bramlett was arrested over the weekend and booked into the Chattooga County Jail on the charges. He is accused of taking a checkbook from the vehicle of Bruce Saine and writing the checks. One check was for $24,350 and the other for $24,300.
Summerville Police said in a report that the victim did not authorize the checks to be written and that the victim’s name was forged on the checks.
Bramlett was charged with two counts of third-degree forgery.
