A Walker County man has been arrested and charged with child molestation after the GBI passed on a tip to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office about an inappropriate Facebook conversation between the twenty-one-year-old man and a fourteen-year-old female.
The GBI Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force passed the information along to Sheriff Steve Wilson’s Office. William J. Painter was flagged by the task force after the conversation on social media revealed that the girl was a minor.
Investigators with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office were able to confirm the girl’s age and found evidence that there had been sexual contact between Painter and the minor.
Painter was booked into the Walker County Jail on Wednesday of this week and charged with one count of child molestation.
