Summerville police say that a Trion woman tried to stop the person that caused her to be in an accident last week. According to reports from the police department, Christy Coffia was traveling south on the Lyerly Highway when an SUV turned in front of her near the Montgomery Street intersection. The two cars collided, causing significant damage to the front of Coffia’s vehicle. Coffia took after the SUV, following it – despite her having significant damage to the front of her own vehicle. After following the SUV for several blocks, the SUV stopped and asked Coffia if “everything was alright.”
Coffia told police that the white male driver said he would turn around, but then sped from the scene. Police were unable to locate the SUV.
