Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson identified the eight-year-old boy that was found near his home in Chickamauga on Thursday of this week. The boy was identified as Bentley Carter Robbins, a second-grader at Chattanooga Valley Elementary School.
Sheriff Wilson says that investigators have learned that the boy left school early on Thursday after he complained of not feeling well. The boy’s body was found by his mother’s boyfriend about forty-five yards from the family home. What happened between the time he left school and his body was found has not been released yet by the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Wilson said that the boy’s body has been sent to the state crime lab and an autopsy will be performed next week.
