Sheriff Schrader’s Statement Regarding Steven Mauldin’s Capture

“Wednesday August 28th at approximately 1:00 PM, deputies from the Coweta Co. GA Sheriffs Office spotted suspect Mauldin traveling on I85 in Coweta County. An attempted traffic stop turned into a vehicle chase when Mauldin failed to stop. The Georgia State Patrol entered the chase and shortly thereafter Mauldin was taken into custody. The GBI will begin processing the vehicle and gathering evidence. I would like to personally thank each officer and employee from my Office and others as well as the agencies that assisted or offered their assistance. I would also like to thank our local media and other media outlets for their quick response in the pushing out of information for us.”

The assisting agencies were: Summerville and Trion Police Depts, The Rome, Lafayette and Newnan Georgia State Patrol, The Georgia Dept. Of Corrections K9 units, The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Floyd County Police Department, Cherokee County Alabama Sheriffs Office, Walker and Gordon County Sheriffs Offices, Adairsville Police Department, Moody Alabama Police Department, Norcross and Clayton County Georgia Police Departments, Coweta County Sheriffs Office and the United States Marshals Service.
