A Chattooga County man came to the sheriff’s department on Monday of this week with a counterfeit $20 that he says he received as change at a local gas station.

Rodney Bright told a deputy that he had purchased some cigarettes with a $100 bill at Murphy’s Oil in front of Wal-Mart .  Mr. Bright then went to Marvin’s Building Materials in Summerville to make a purchase and was told by store employees that the $20 he had received as change from the gas station was counterfeit.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department.
