According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department, several laptop computers belonging to the Gore Fire Department were stolen during a burglary that was reported on Sunday of this week.
A deputy responded to a Silver Hill Road residence and spoke with Mr. Steve Scoggins who told the deputy that a house that he uses for storage was broken into. Mr. Scoggins and the deputy observed that someone had kicked in the back door to the house.
Mr. Scoggins said that uses the house to do paperwork for the Gore Fire Department. In addition to the fire department laptops that were stolen, Mr. Scoggins said that some antique sewing machines, sound equipment and other items were missing from the house.
A neighbor said that they had observed a white, 90’s model, Chevrolet pickup truck behind the house the previous day.
The case has been turned over to an investigator.
