Arrest Made After Chase Ends in Walker County

Chattooga County Sheriff’s deputies and the Georgia State Patrol were involved in a high speed chase on Tuesday that ended with a man in custody.

The chase began on Highway 27 just south of Highway 151 after a sheriff’s investigator attempted a traffic stop.  The driver subsequently fled from the deputy.  The Georgia State Patrol and Walker County Sheriff’s deputies assisted in apprehending the driver.

The chase continued into Walker County and the man was eventually stopped in the Chamberlain Road area.  A suspect was identified as Brian Avens of a Chamberlain Road address.  He was charged with Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act and driving violations.
