19-year-old Killed in Tragic Single-vehicle Accident on Florida’s Turnpike; Passenger Hospitalized

A collision involving a single vehicle that occurred on Florida’s Turnpike near Orlando resulted in the death of one man, who was 19 years old, and the transportation of another man to the hospital, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

As of Monday afternoon, shortly after three o’clock, the two individuals were traveling in a Mazda MX-5 that was heading in a northerly direction and was getting ready to approach the onramp for the express lane on Interstate 4.

As the driver started to change lanes in the direction of the ramp, he lost control of the vehicle. There was a collision between the vehicle and the concrete wall barrier on the inner shoulder.

The driver made an excessive correction to the right, which resulted in the vehicle colliding with another barrier, which caused it to flip over onto its roof.

Meanwhile, the passenger was taken to Health Central Hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. The driver was confirmed dead at the scene of the accident.

The accident caused the lanes of the northbound Turnpike to be closed from Consulate Drive to Interstate 4 until approximately 8 o’clock in the evening.
