The Athens police department has said that a 19-year-old suspect who is suspected of kidnapping and statutory rape has been taken into prison following a string of hit-and-run accidents.
At approximately five minutes before five o’clock on Monday morning, officers from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to the 200 block of Highland Park Drive in response to a report of a kidnapping of a youngster.
Some hit-and-run accidents led to the discovery of the suspect’s vehicle on Westchester Drive by law enforcement personnel throughout the inquiry. The minor was located by the police, and they were also transported to the hospital.
Following an initial investigation, law enforcement officials brought the suspect, identified as Jehron Keys, who is 19 years old and from Lawrenceville, into jail. Keys is being charged with kidnapping, child molestation, statutory rape, reckless driving, three charges of hit-and-run, failure to maintain lane, and dangerous tires, according to the police. Keys is also being charged with statutory rape 11ALIVE stated.
