JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reports that an 18-year-old woman died in a crash in the city’s Oceanway area on Monday evening.

Around 6:30 p.m., a pickup truck was going west on Dunn Creek Road when the driver “failed to negotiate” an “abrupt” 90-degree turn in the road, according to authorities. The pickup truck went off the road, through a barrier, and into a tree.

According to police, the vehicle had five occupants ranging in age from 17 to 22 at the time of the incident.

The front passenger, an 18-year-old lady, had life-threatening injuries in the crash.

According to authorities, the other occupants of the vehicle performed CPR on the victim, but she was pronounced dead at the site by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

No other passengers in the vehicle were transported to the hospital.
