Chicago, IL – An 18-year-old man from Chicago was taken into custody on Wednesday after officials found a pistol in his refrigerator. The discovery was made in response to a video he posted on YouTube showing firearms.
The Electronic Monitoring Unit of the Cook County Sheriff’s Department carried out the home compliance check that resulted in the arrest of Derrick Crawford.
Investigators were made aware of Crawford’s activities after viewing a video on YouTube that showed him flaunting firearms, as stated by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. In response to this information, law enforcement agents searched his residence and discovered a loaded weapon concealed under a refrigerator while they were there.
In addition to being charged with illegal possession of a firearm and felony breach of his pretrial release, Crawford was already being monitored electronically at the time of the announcement.
