A 15-year-old boy was arrested on charges that he killed a guy with a baseball bat while he was at rest. A security guard was walking around a business building in Redding just before 6 a.m. on Monday, July 29, when she saw a hurt guy lying on a “discarded sofa behind the building,” according to a Facebook post from the Redding Police Department.
Police said that when first responders got there, they saw that the man, who “had severe trauma to his face and head,” was dead. Police said they looked at the business’s security video and saw “a juvenile male armed with a baseball bat bludgeoning the sleeping” man.
Police say that while they were searching the area, they found a 15-year-old boy who they identified as the suspect seen on the security video.
Police said the boy was pulled over and later put into the Shasta County Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility on several charges, including murder.
Police said the 55-year-old guy from Redding won’t be named until the coroner’s office has told his family. It takes about 160 miles to drive from Sacramento to Redding.
